Cité médiévale et bords de Garonne

Description

Following the banks of the Garonne, this 2-hour walk will take you to the ancient city of Saint-Macaire, nestled on its rock. The Church of Saint-Sauveur and its 14th century mural paintings, the old ramparts, the Saint-Sauveur priory, the surrounding gates or the medieval fortified house of Tardes: immersion in the Middle Ages, in this former lock of the Bordeaux region on the Garonne. You will enjoy strolling through the picturesque streets, wandering from small shops to historic corners, falling back into childhood by climbing steep staircases, and marvelling at the view from the Mercadiou square, symbol of the power of the old merchants.
