This trail helps you discover the thermal history of the Western Vosges. The village of Dolaincourt has a small sulphurous, sodic and arsenic thermal spring, which has been exploited since the middle of the 19th century, in a small yellown wooden building. This small cabin was used as a refreshment room and as a bottling plant until 1914. The village of Vouxey has a beautiful church dating from the 16th century.

Botanical trail Starting from the Museum of French string instrument and bow making, this country trail will take you through a beautiful forest of deciduous trees. You will pass through the village of Bazoilles and Ménil, before entering the woods again. A wood where you’ll be able to explore the botanical trail of the Malaumont woods. Then, you will move on to the INRA experimental farm, where innovative ways of raising dairy cows are tested in real-life conditions. The circuit will allow you discover the village of Poussay and its famous agricultural fair, whose origin dates back to the 17th century. With this trail, you will discover one of the most important places in the history of Lorraine : Châtenois. In the 11th century, the first Duke of Lorraine, Gerard of Alsace, had a fortified castle perched on the upper part of the town. His wife, Hedwige of Namur, founded a Benedictine priory in 1069, which still dominates the landscape. There are many calvaries along the path, which explains the surname of "Petite Bretagne Lorraine" (Little Brittany in Lorraine) given to this territory. Marking : blue ring

This trail is perfect for nature lovers. From the "Maison Forestière du Rendez-Vous" (forest house), you will be able to admire remarkable trees along the path. Amongst others, you will see the Lothar oak, the Douglas-firs and the famous giant sequoia, made remarkable by its height. A stop will be made at the Malovoye fountain, whose name comes from "mal" (wrong) and "avoi", which means "wrong path". During the spring, this spring allows amphibians to come breed.

This trail between Rollainville and Fruze is called "La Frézelle" as you will walk along this stream for a while. It enables you to admire the sites classified "Sensitive Natural Area" in the Western Vosges. The images are jostling, in a few metres, the landscape can change quickly. It will be a treat for nature lovers. Breathe, look around, recharge your batteries !

Starting from the picturesque village of Rollainville, labelled "Village fleuri" (Towns and villages in bloom) and awarded "4 flowers", discover the vast forest of Neufeys where history and natural environments intermingle. It is flanked by two valleys at the bottom of which the Frézelle flows to the west and the Sermone stream flows to the east. In this forest, you will find mainly beech trees and a giant sequoia.

Discover the plain of the south of the Vosges through this 102 kilometre route where the bumps come one after the other like a rollercoaster. Starting from Florémont, you ride towards Ubexy to look for the first series of bumps around Gugney-aux-Aulx, among the orchards. The warm-up is short, the tempo is set until Madegney, the end of the first series. Enjoy a good moment of calm before tackling the next series at Madecourt and its highest point located shortly after Domjulien. A small hilly road quickly leads you to the vicinity of Juvaincourt airport, which you bypass from the north to Poussay. This downhill section along the Madon allows you to take a breather before taking the last roller coaster back to the starting point in Florémont. Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Wander through the Aubepré garden and visit the wide collection of trees, bushes, as well as perennials and the specific features of the botanical environment surrounding a pond. Perfume, foliage and colours all create a romantic and intimate atmosphere. The garden is labeled “jardin remarquable” (remarkable garden); the village has been awarded « 4 Fleurs » (4 flowers) by the Comité National du fleurissement and it won a silver medal in the European Floral City contest. A wonderful botanical garden of 1 hectare with more than 900 species of perennial plants and 3000m² of water completely built by volunteers. This garden was designed and created by 3 botanical enthusiasts named Raphaël Arnould, Michel Capdevielle and Lionel Gonzalez. The scenery looks flamboyant, the flourishing vegetation is luxuriant and the mixture of many different perfumes is truly subtle. Within the water, koi carps seem to play hide and seek with the water lilies.

This church with the apse and with the Romanesque tower, has a chevet (the end of the choir of a church behind the high altar) with a vey original decor unique in Lorraine. The nave is topped by a protective floor, because it was the chapel of the castle of the bishops of Toul.

On the heights of Vicherey, near the church, two monuments commemorate the conflicts of the 20th century. Outside the cemetery, overlooking the village of Vicherey and its surrounding valley, a monument catches the eye: it is a stele installed in memory of those who were deported from the area and of civilian victims shot during the Nazi occupation. This stele, inaugurated on 30 September 1990, concerns 16 communes in the area and commemorates 38 inhabitants. Initiated by Maurice Gérard, Father Demange and Gilbert d'Habit, it was brought to this place in April 1990, the granite block having been offered by a granite worker from the Hautes-Vosges. In its upper part, the following quotation can be read: "In the land of the Haut-Saintois, remember, here too the wind of freedom has blown". Nearby, in the cemetery, stands the Vicherey war memorial. This obelisk on a pedestal, with a Latin cross, surrounded by railings and on which are engraved the words “Gloire à nos héros” ("Glory to our heroes"), perpetuates the memory of 20 men who died during the First World War, as well as that of one man who died during the Second World War and one man who died in Algeria.

Situated at 426 m above sea level, the Ferrières chapel built by the iron miners in 1624, dominates the Vosges plain, from where one can admire a magnificent panorama. The chapel was built on the site of an old oratory with a three-pillars awning. The polychrome stone Virgin Mary is from 1685. The chapel underwent a first restoration in 1951 and a second one in 1991 which gave it its current appearance. Visit upon request by calling 03.29.06.43.13

Built in the two first decades of the 16th century, the church in Aroffe was finished in 1528, date written on one of the windows which is now missing. Surrounded by the old cemetery, the church has a rectangular plan with a bell tower, set in the West side and a pentagonal apse to the East. The nave has gothic windows with two trefoil lancet windows topped either by quatrefoils, by mouchettes (an element of decor typical of the Gothic style and of an asymetircal form that resembles flames), by guttae or by trefoils.

The Saint Martin's parish church dates from the 16th and 17th century. The chor and the funeral chapel of Erard de Dommartin were built at the beginning of the 16th century. The chapel north of the chor was built at the begining of 17th century and then the nave and the bell tower between 1755 and 1757. The funeral chapel is a piece of the art of the early Renaissance in the Lorraine region.

Located in the middle of the village the length of which overlooks a small river, the St Brice church was built in the 12th century. The Romanesque style is very dominant and its bell tower is a very good example of it. Like mot churches of the time, it still has traces of “fortifications”, which replaced a castle in case of troubles. During the 16th century the building undergone significant modifications, including in its nave. The Flamboyant Gothic Style appears also in the different bays. Other complements arrived in the 17th century with a certain classicism on very limited parts like the doors for example. But overall, the spirit stays medieval, between Romanesque and Gothic.
