This hike will take you from the Sérénac plateau to the Tarn valley. It forms a loop around the Méridienne verte. A few heritage features mark out its route. t the start, on your right, you can see the Albigensian plain in the distance. During your walk, you will cross agricultural areas, oak and chestnut woods. In Pécotte, a small place in the commune where two farms are located for market gardening, you will see above all the "bac de Pécotte". It was one of the links between the two banks of the Tarn. It was put into service in 1880. Its activity ceased in 1960. Every year, on the third weekend of July, a festival is organised around this ferry. You will then go along the Tarn before reaching the high plateau where you can discover beautiful landscapes towards Alban, Assac, Valence d'Albigeois...

Around a schistose needle, the Tarn makes a long loop of 3 km. When the river seems to turn back, the peninsula of Ambialet is only about thirty metres wide. This unique site, which was for more than two centuries the most important stronghold of the Albigensian region, still bears the traces of a prestigious past. This tour will help you discover the various monuments and remains of Ambialet. From the old monastery, at the top of the promontory, you will have a spectacular view of the isthmus.

La rivière Tarn, de sa source au Mont Lozère, parcourt 375 km. Arrivée aux portes de Trébas, elle côtoie le département de l'Aveyron sur sa rive gauche et sur sa rive droite, celui du Tarn. La rivière est ici à peu près à mi-parcours. Gaycre fut peuplé par les Ibères au Ve siècle. En effet, ce nom provient de l’Ibère « Garritz » qui donne en occitan, puis en vieux français « Garric »... le chêne. Cet arbre ornait le blason de ce village médiéval qui a été construit sur un promontoire rocheux d’où vous aurez un superbe point de vue sur la vallée. Ce joli hameau perché, visible de loin, est surnommé « le petit Mont Saint Michel du Tarn ». Le château du XVe siècle et les trois fours à pain, dont deux encore présents, constituaient un exceptionnel signe de richesse au Moyen Âge. En 1835, la commune de Gaycre fusionnée, par Ordonnance Royale, avec Cadix cesse d’exister. Elle devient un « écart » de Cadix. Durant votre randonnée, vous découvrirez des paysages variés et un riche petit patrimoine (lavoir, cazelle, croix).

The Toulouse-Lautrec museum is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Albi: the Berbie Palace. The Palace is one of the Episcopal City’s major sites with World Heritage status. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. Each stage of the production is represented, highlighting his gift for observation, his talent as a draughtsman and his quality for capturing significant detail. The route around the museum is enriched with information panels. To visit the museum is to meet the man, this native of Albi, of whom this city is so proud. The first rooms are devoted to his early works representing his family, his friends and his favourite theme: animals. Come and discover the fountain of the Mother of God in the village of Le Dourn. From there, you will have access to a remarkable point of view on the plateau of Ségala. The chapel you can see was built by a missionary from Dourn.

The bell tower of the church of Gaulène houses a manual carillon of 20 bells. Together with the carillons of Castres and La Drèche, it is one of the jewels in the crown of the Tarn's campanile heritage. Every first Sunday of the month from 2 to 3 p.m. throughout the year and from 17 to 23 December at 6 p.m., a concert-visit is organised. On this occasion it is possible to discover the functioning of the keyboard "coups de poings" and to be closer to the bells. The carillon consists of 20 bells: - 1829: 1 bell - 1866: 10 bells - 2001: installation of a gift of 2 bells from 1847 - 2016-2017: 7 new bells The 1866 bells are called "demoiselles de Louison": demoiselle because of their shape and Louison being the name of the founder. These bells are designed to be operated in a rotating flight (a complete turn on itself). This set of "demoiselles de Louison" is the largest known today in France. A screen has been installed at the bottom of the bell tower to allow people who have difficulty climbing into the carillon to see the carillonneuse playing.

The Sérénac forest is equipped to receive the public and to discover the forest ecosystem (interpretation and hiking trails, permanent orienteering course, mountain bike course, picnic areas). La forêt de Sérénac, forêt de chênes, de châtaigniers, de hêtres de charmes, d'alisiers, et quelques résineux de 200 ha à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l'est d'Albi, était autrefois exploitée par le couvent de Saint-Louis-du-Désert. Elle devint ensuite forêt de production pour les mines de charbon et la verrerie de Carmaux. Aujourd'hui réhabilitée, elle est traversée de nombreux sentiers de randonnées et sentiers de découverte au départ de la Maison de la forêt.

It is the ideal place to stay in Ségala, Tarn for a wonderful holiday with family or friends, as it accommodates 4 to 5 people (two bedrooms). Imagine the activity in the living room a few decades ago, when you see the original cement tiles. But for your comfort, you'll find all the contemporary equipment you need to cook to your heart's content and a cosy living room to relax in.
