Entre Millevaches et Monédières, l'eau se confronte à la pierre et vous offre des reliefs à la fois exigeants et agréables … Après avoir traversé Treignac, classée "Petite cité de caractère", vous montez en direct à la pierre des druides qui vous offre une magnifique vue sur les Monédières. Puis, progressivement vous glissez vers Treignac en longeant plusieurs étangs jusqu'au mur des fénéants … PS : On n'a toujours pas trouvé la potion des druides. Parcours labellisé UniVert'Trail par la Fédération Française d'Athlétisme au titre de l'UniVert'Trail Millevaches Monédières. Balisage avec flèches Vert et gris. Accès : A 37 km de Limoges, prendre l’A20 en direction de Toulouse. Prendre la sortie n°39. Suivre la direction Linards puis Saint-Méard.

Longeant le lac des Barriousses, puis en prenant de la hauteur vous découvrirez des hêtraies à houx particulières au plateau et des forêts de conifères en alternance avec des prairies d'un vert soutenu. Le panorama vous permettra de voir le paysage vallonné avec ses courbes douces et un espace naturel préservé. Un crochet de 300m vous fera découvrir Treignac avec vue sur la Monédière.

The Veix trail, once used by the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela, skirts two great peaks of the massif: the Puy d'Orliac, which peaks at 705 metres, and the Puy de la Monédière, the highest, which reaches 919 metres in altitude.Right at the beginning, you can explore the Romanesque church of Veix, with its panoramic view of the Puy de la Monédière. From the church, go down the small road that joins the RD 180 about 150 m further on.At the crossroads, turn right towards Treignac. Shortly after the Town Hall buildings, turn left and then go down a path that leads to the Pont d'Allogne bridge that crosses the Alembre stream. Then continue on the stony path that leads to the top of the village of Allogne.At the communal road, turn left to continue for 500 m, then turn left onto a forest track. Take this track, which goes around the Puy d'Orliac to the south, until you reach the RD 180 at "Frontomeil".Cut across the departmental road to reach the first houses in the village. Turn left on a path that passes in front of a farm building, then continue on this path at the foot of Puy de la Monédière until you reach a small road at the place known as "Les Borderies".At the road, turn left and continue for 300 m, leaving the road to turn right onto a path that passes over a small stream.Then climb up to the village of "Lasmay". When you arrive in the village, turn left to take a small road. Pass the junction for "La Combe" then 400 m further on, turn right onto an old path that leads to the town of Veix.

Leaving Beaumont, you leave the PNR de Millevaches on this stage. Conifers gradually give way to deciduous trees such as the oak, emblematic of Corrèze, and heather moors to pasture fields. In this unspoilt, calm and verdant setting, only the sound of birdsong will accompany you to the picturesque village of Chamboulive.

Before resuming your journey on stage 2 of the GR46 in Corrèze, take a moment to stroll through Treignac, a small town full of character, with its cobbled streets, granite houses and Notre-Dame des Bans church with its distinctive twisted bell tower. Stage 2 continues through the timeless Millevaches Regional Nature Park, crossing the many streams and ponds that characterize the plateau of a thousand springs. It's also a challenging stage, as you cross the Monédières massif and its charming rounded puys, decorated with coniferous forests and heather moors.

They define one of the main valleys of the massif and meet at the Col des Géants, the gateway to the Monédières that everyone knows.

The orientation table provides a magnificent panorama of the Limousin Mountains and the Millevaches plateau. The Monéfières massif is a rolling landscape. The Auvergne can be seen if the weather is clear: the Dôme, Dore and Cantal mountains.

This “puy” lent its name to the massif of which it is the highest point (919 m). Monédières means “Mountains of the day[light]”, named for the play of light across the massif in every season, particularly at the end of summer when it is covered with heather.

At feet of Monédières, a vast cirque cut in the granitic rock marks the border between plateau and mountain. The cirque of Freysselines is a real sanctuary of the moor: heathers, ferns, brooms, myrtilliers and raspberry bushes form a plant heart of a rare variety.

In April 1944, two months before the Tulle massacres, eighteen inhabitants of Le Lonzac in Corrèze were shot by the Nazis. The village recognized as Martyr Village following the atrocities committed in the spring of 1944 by the Brehmer Division is now recognized as a “memory trail”, the fourth in the Corrèze department.
