Departing from the spa town of La Roche-Posay, you follow the banks of the Gartempe to the pretty village of Vicq-sur-Gartempe, where you can take a break by the river and discover the famous "Sérénity" cookies. The journey continues through fields dotted with pretty hamlets to the village of Pleumartin, with its large covered market and the beautiful village of Crémillé. After a few views over the valley and a few woodland passages, you'll come back to the resort and perhaps finish with a moment of relaxation at the Spa Source.

This trail takes you to Lésigny. This charming village enjoys a picturesque location on the left bank of the Creuse, which acts as a natural border with Touraine. Discover the Château de Boutelaye and cross the "La Luire" stream along an ancient Roman road and Gallo-Roman bridge. The Orillard park, on the banks of the Creuse, offers facilities for young and old alike, including a petanque pitch, fixed and ephemeral games, a relaxation area and a picnic area, so that you can enjoy this natural setting cradled by the river's waters.

The Creuse Bridge, from the Poitevin bank to the Touraine bank, between Vienne & Indre et Loire, has seen many upheavals! In 1792, a major flood swept away the medieval stone bridge. At the end of the small peninsula, you can still see two large masonry blocks that supported the deck before the bridge collapsed at the end of the 18th century, following a major flood. Until the 19th century, the Creuse was crossed by toll ferry from the end of Rue de la Cale, also known as the mini-port. In 1937, the toll suspension bridge built in 1835 was replaced by the present-day bridge. The bridge witnessed fierce fighting on June 22, 1940, in the vain hope of delaying the Nazi advance.

At the confluence at Le Breuil, the clear waters of the Gartempe mingle with the dark waters of the Creuse. Rich in fish, they also powered the mills and supplied water to the town's tanneries. Thanks to the towpath running alongside the Creuse, timber could be floated down the river until the 19th century. These rivers, with their sometimes violent floods, were also difficult frontiers to cross. The mill is, of course, the machine used to make flour!

The Hippodrome de La Gâtinière, the only racecourse in the Department of Vienne, one of the most beautiful in the region, opens its doors to you in the summer for 7 horse racing meetings, Trotting, Flat or Obstacle. A children's drawing competition rewards all the children who take part with numerous gifts and a draw rewards 10 people with completed entry tickets.

Square Abbé Brand, at the foot of the church, was inaugurated in 1994 as a tribute to this young chaplain who, with his strength of conviction, saved the lives of 60 hostages when a retreating German company passed through on August 27, 1944, a hot summer Sunday, in the late afternoon.
