The Auvezère flows from its entrance in the Dordogne in real gorges that can reach a depth of a hundred meters. The river takes on the air of a torrent as it weaves its way between boulders, in a succession of rapids and waterfalls. This river, which is sufficiently agitated to host regional, inter-regional and national canoe-kayak championships on an equipped course, reaches its peak at the "Saut Ruban", an enchanting and emblematic place that should not be missed.

Saint-Mesmin is located in a triangle between Limoges (87), Brive la Gaillarde (19) and Périgueux (24). 1132 inhabitants lived in the village in 1898, but in 1947 it had only 720. The Auvézère gorges are already mentioned as a tourist attraction.

This old and restored gite, overlooking a forest and a house, is located in the Auvézère Valley in the heart of a protected nature. The gite la Quintinie is an independent house, close to a house in a hamlet, which has two rooms for four persons.

Essendiéras also welcomes people who like to travel with a caravan or tent. You can enjoy camping on the small but pleasant Campsite 'Bruyère' on the domain, currently with 13 sites all with their own private sanitary. The campgrounds are spacious (approx. 100 – 200 m2), situated on the edge of a lake, also well protected for smaller children. On one side you look out over horse pastures, on the other side over the lake and the valley with the castles. There is a small bridge to the playground island in the lake, which has various play sets. In addition to the customary sanitary facilities, there is electricity and you can also make use of the heated swimming pool a bit further along on the Domain. You can also make use of all other facilities that the Domain has to offer you.

Château d’Hautefort is located 28 km north of Montignac and the Lascaux caves in the Vézère Valley of the Dordogne. This fortress, which once belonged to Bertran de Born, is a blend of medieval defence features with a classical centre castle built between 1630 and 1670. The castle was transformed into a leisure manor in the 17th century, and today it houses a remarkable collection of period furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Includes an English-style park and French-style gardens designed by the Count of Choulot in the 19th century along terraces; the garden is now on the register of historic places.

At an altitude of 413 m, it is a high point of the Green Perigord. A quartzite massif, crossed by numerous quartz veins, covered with heather, contrasting with the meadows and woods of the surrounding plateaus. Near the viewpoint indicator, the view is magical. The silence allows us to listen to the lark or the field pipit. We can observe the flight of the harrier Saint-Martin or the passage of the goshawks Be careful, the balance of this site remains fragile, please respect the flora and fauna. Take your time to observe and to listen. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Chapel Notre Dame de partout was built in 1958 by the will and under the direction of Father Gali.

This foundry on the banks of the Auvézère River, with water rustling in the background, is one of the most remarkable sites in the Périgord. Overlooked by the castle of the Masters of the Forge, the blast furnace still bears witness to bygone activity, and was the last in France to run on charcoal. A footpath,accessible all year round, circles the forge in an enchanting setting of water and woodlands.

This organic snail farm was born in 2021. Breeding of small grey and large grey snails, cooked products, including the traditional snails in shells with parsley butter. Near tourist sites such as the castle of Hautefort or the forge of Savignac-Lédrier, come and discover our farm in summer during the breeding season on the occasion of organized visits (dates on our website). A point of sale at the farm is also open on Fridays from 16:30 to 19:00. Closed in January/February.

The "city" of Clairvivre was designed and built to treat people suffering from lung disease after the First World War, without separating them from their families. This unusual place is a real utopian city in the countryside, where one finds beside small white pavilions, shops, restaurants, hiking trails and an equestrian centre. Classified as part of France’s 20th century Heritage.

Educational farm for school groups, leisure centers and co. Organic farming of dairy sheep and production of ewe's milk cheese and yoghurt. Sales at the farm on Wednesdays at the end of the day (5:30 pm to 7 pm) at the small farmers' market, and at the Excideuil market on Thursday mornings (April to October).

From iron to straw ... This is the story of the Papeterie de Vaux, created in 1861 on the site of two old forges to produce rye straw paper. 5 km from Payzac, at the bend of a small road in the Périgord Vert, the large chimney of the blast furnace appears. You arrived at the Papeterie museum. Discover this Historic Monument, the last factory in France to present an intact paper manufacturing line, witness to the industrial era of the last century. You can create your own paper during the workshops in the museum.

Romanesque style with a wall bell tower and a single nave, the church has a stone slab, brought back from Dalon Abbey, representing a woman, continues to divide historians on its true identity. It is probably Aimeline de Born, Viscountess of Hautefort, daughter of troubadour Bertrand de Born

Organic of course, according to the rules of nature and the Ecocert certification body. In addition to vegetable production, we also raise sheep and laying hens to complement farm life and to add a few animal products to our range of flavours. La Caravane is located on the edge of a hiking trail, and is open to all only during the high season. Here you can enjoy seasonal produce, tasty ice creams and a cool drink... Another caravan is open every lunchtime in July and August at Place Sarlandie, in the town center.

Four Breton friends, from Rennes to be precise, decided to put down their suitcases, knife and shaker cases as well as their billigs in Anlhiac, at the bar restaurant "La Crémaillère". This young and dynamic team from the restaurant and bar business has brought novelty between local products, cuisine ripaille, specialties of Brittany with buckwheat pancakes and wheat pancakes prepared to order as well as elaborate cocktails with multiple colors and flavors. Brimming with imagination and a touch of madness, La Crémaillère has also become playful with its many board games available at any time of the day and evening.
