Après avoir découvert les charmes de cette cité médiévale blottie dans les méandres de l’Auvézère et classée parmi les « Plus Beaux Villages de France » , vous partez pour une agréable balade sans difficulté. D’une colline à l’autre, vous emprunterez une passerelle enjambant la rivière, des chemins en sous-bois, forêts et plateaux. En chemin, vous profiterez de beaux panoramas sur le village, la campagne et les hameaux environnants.

From the sign in the church square (near the fountain), go down Rue du Moulin, then 50 m further on, turn right.

The Auvézère valley flows at its entrance to the Dordogne in real gorges that can reach a depth of a hundred metres before calming down downstream from the village of Génis. Departure: From the signpost at the church parking lot, walk along the church, cross the crossroads and head for the Hôtel des Voyageurs. Follow the road for 250 m, then turn right at the "PAYZAC" exit sign pAYZAC" sign.

From the sign near the church, follow signs for Génis, then after 50 m, turn left between the houses.

Le tracé propose un panachage entre vergers, prairies, forêt et ruisseau. Vue sur les collines limitrophes de la Dordogne (château de Hautefort), puis large panorama depuis le nord jusqu'aux buttes calcaires de Ayen et Saint Robert au sud. Descente ensuite vers le ruisseau et remontée dans la forêt. La balade peut se prolonger par une flânerie dans les rues de Juillac parmi les maisons de caractère aux toits d'ardoises.

The Auvezère flows from its entrance in the Dordogne in real gorges that can reach a depth of a hundred meters. The river takes on the air of a torrent as it weaves its way between boulders, in a succession of rapids and waterfalls. This river, which is sufficiently agitated to host regional, inter-regional and national canoe-kayak championships on an equipped course, reaches its peak at the "Saut Ruban", an enchanting and emblematic place that should not be missed.

Watch out for the gradient! From the signpost near the church, follow the signs for Génis, then 50 m further on, turn right between the houses.

Le gîtes des écoles is located in the heart of this picturesque medieval town, dominated by the imposing remains of its castle, and deserving of its place among the most beautiful villages in France. The birthplace of the first Viscounts of Limoges, it was also the seat of the Court of Appeals from the 15th to the 18th century... Take a stroll through the narrow streets and discover the many half-timbered and turreted houses that bear witness to this period. In summer: Guided tours on Mondays and Fridays, local farmers' markets, flea market, painters' day, black-bottomed pig festival, exhibitions...

This recently renovated, well-equipped stone cottage features an open-plan living room with dining area and lounge, and a fully-equipped kitchen. The accommodation is all on one level. Domaine le Mayne consists of three houses crossed by the little river "Le Mayne". Only the birds, the rustling brook, the frogs and other friezes welcome you. Since 1794, a water mill has produced chestnut and buckwheat flour. This occupation comprises 3 buildings, the small house called "La Vieille Annexe" has kept its authentic character, combined with contemporary comfort, entirely embellished and redecorated with its reclaimed old materials, doors, windows and parquet flooring, a restored jewel. The mill has undergone a complete overhaul in terms of restoration. Our hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Corrèze, near the Périgord area, by the castle of Pompadour, just a few steps from the race track and national stud farm. From iron to straw ... This is the story of the Papeterie de Vaux, created in 1861 on the site of two old forges to produce rye straw paper. 5 km from Payzac, at the bend of a small road in the Périgord Vert, the large chimney of the blast furnace appears. You arrived at the Papeterie museum. Discover this Historic Monument, the last factory in France to present an intact paper manufacturing line, witness to the industrial era of the last century. You can create your own paper during the workshops in the museum.

February 16th 1944, Massacre at the bridge Lasveyras. In the early morning, germans encircle the bridge lasveyras mill where are 49 men aged from 19 to 25 years old. Germans killed 34 of them and 5 died in deportation. To discover : -Path of Memory: 10 informations panels about French Resistance, the Massacre. A path in tribute to the victims, surrounded by fauna and flora of Correze, -Inside the mill : an exhibition inside the mill tells about the history of this drama. (Only in Summer) .

Lasveyras Bridge Memorial Trail At the site, an exhibition describes the “Pont Lasveyras Massacre”, and commemorates the 49 victims who died on 16 February 1944. The exhibition features the Resistance, the war years (1940-1945), the speech of General de Gaulle, famous men of the period, the Liberation and much more.

Tastefully staged, original 3600m2 garden at Ségur-le-Château. Magnificent islands of vegetable gardens, ornaments, flowers... all in full color, are presented by the owner.

This neo-Romanesque building dates from the late 19th century. It comprises a triple nave with a central barrel-vaulted nave. There is no transept. At the entrance stands the bell tower, the base of which serves as a vestibule. The interior layout and 19th-century furnishings (statuary, woodwork, paintings) have remained unchanged. Inside, you can admire a stained glass window symbolizing the martyrdom of Saint-Léger, created in 2007 by Vincent CORPET, an internationally-renowned contemporary artist.

The Château de Ségur-le-Château, currently being restored, stands on a steep spur overlooking the village and the Auvézère River. Originally, it was a "castrum", a term used to designate the residence of viscounts and the lodgings of comrades-in-arms. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the complex underwent major architectural modifications that altered the original structure. The 1st enclosure leads to a vast courtyard, where a fortified Renaissance house and a 15th-century mansion still stand. The 2nd enclosure, protected by thick fortified walls, includes the remains of the keep and Notre-Dame chapel.

We have restored an old bread oven on our small farm to make a comfortable retreat in a quiet corner of the Dordogne. The kitchen and bathroom combine modern fittings with old beams and masonry, while the comfortable living room has a wood burning stove and the original paddle for the old bread oven, when the renovation work was completed It is an ideal base for an active holiday (many options nearby), but the nightlife is all about sharing the stars with the owls and a bottle of wine.
