If emigration often rhymes in Limousin with mason, this walk reveals another less well-known sector, that of wine.Departure: in front of the town hall, head right towards the cemetery. Go down an alley on the left to the chapel and turn right onto the path. Go over the bridge and at the forest crossing turn right, then, very soon after, turn left up the trail to return to the road. Follow it to the right for 400 m.Follow the path to the left. Then take the road to the right towards Chavetourte.In Chavetourte, turn left at the first barn (go ahead for a few metres to see the merchant's house, the cross and the place where animals were shod). Outside the circuit: a round trip to the Mas (panoramic view of the Monts d'Auvergne) and Le Massoubre (bakeries, old chestnut tree).The trail crosses a stream. A few metres later, leave the main path and turn left onto a trail that climbs towards La Mongie. Take the road on the right (go a few metres to the left towards the bakery and the view of the Massif du Sancy).At the edge of the village, take a trail on the right which passes in front of a drinking trough; continue to the left at the old bakery. Find the road and follow on the right until you reach the Bachellerie.In the village, turn left and go back to the fountain-washhouse, passing in front of a merchant's house. Return to the centre of the village: take the road to the left and, at the last house, follow the path to the right. Find the road on the right that returns to Davignac.

This rural itinerary starts from an old mining "city".Departure point on the square on the edge of the D36. Head for the old butcher's shop; turn right and then left on the Rue des Sources. Then turn right on the Rue du Château d'Eau. The latter rejoins the Rue des Sources, which we follow on the right.100 m after leaving the village, follow the road to the left. At the crossroads with the Pézareix road, continue on the track straight ahead. At the next crossroads, take the path on the right. Go straight on to Besse. Take note, at the entrance of the village, turn right on the small path that goes to the well.Take the road to the left. At the last house, turn right onto the Chemin des Chèvres follow it straight ahead.Take the road to the right and then to the left. Go past the stream, the Ambrugeat. 600 m after the bridge, turn left onto the track. Continue along the motorcycle path, go through the gate to reach the dyke.Just after the dyke, follow a path in the woodland to the left. Take the road on the left and then, in a hairpin bend, the path straight ahead. Take the road on the right, then leave the Route des Nèves and go on until you reach a crossroads.At the crossroads turn left towards La Chabane. At the top of the hill, take a path on the right. Go left at the first crossroads. This path joins up with a track that you take on the right. It leads to Cisterne.In the village, follow the road to the left for 1 km. Take a path to the left. Turn right at the road to reach the Pézareix mill. Take the road on the left which rises and becomes a track. Turn right when you reach the road.At the crossroads, turn right: the road runs alongside the ralway line. Turn left at the railway crossing and then take the path on the left just after the crossing keeper's house. Turn left at the next crossroads; the path becomes a track.Take the road to the left; go left at the next crossroads; cross the railway line. Turn right at the next crossroads to return to Maussac.

Which do you prefer? The softness of the leafy hardwood forests, the mysteries of the coniferous undergrowth, the rough landscape of the heaths and moors or the coolness of the water's edge?Opposite the church, take the road to the left and turn at the first road on the left, continuing to the village of Laubard.At the entrance to Laubard, at the cross, turn onto the path on the right. When you reach the track (FR44), turn left, cross the railway line and at the crossroads, take the second trackway on the left to reach the first houses in Matrillat.At the intersection, do not go up towards the village, but take the forest path opposite. When you reach the Le Las road, continue on the path opposite, which leads to Beynat.In the hamlet, veer left for 100 m, then right (the path alongside the house is not very obvious) and, finally, right to reach the D 123. At this road, turn left and then immediately go down the path on the right. Cross the railway line and continue straight on.Take the second path on the left, cross the watercourse and go straight up for quite a long time until you reach the track.Turn left, and immediately after the stream, turn left again, following the GR 440, which leads to the D 123. At the departmental road, go straight ahead. Go left at the track: go up, past a house and continue to the crossroads.Turn right, left and right again through the narrow lane to the track.At the forest track, go right and then take a path on the right that leads to La Gautherie. Go through the village; at the D76 go straight on and turn left immediately. At the road, go to the right to go straight to the village of Ambrugeat.
