The site of Quinconces remains one of the few "wild" places of the coast north Basin offering a magnificent panoramic view to discover The Pointe des Quinconces, protected and listed in the picturesque heritage of the Gironde, was the favorite walk of Sarah Bernhardt during his stay in Andernos-les-Bains. You can see the old fish tanks dug in 1840 by David Allègre, known for having built the first steam trawler in the world, "the Turbot", in Arès. Following the coastal path northwards, a wooden bridge allows you to cross the Cirès river to reach the beach of Saint-Brice in Arès.

Built between 1868 and 1878, this church contains many curiosities. Composed of hard stones from St-Savinien (Charente-Maritime), its bell tower faces east which is the point of sunrise on September 27th (St Vincent's day). By pushing the oak doors of this religious monument, you will discover the organs installed in 1973. Atypical elements, the clams are actually 2 tridacne shells (shells from the tropics). The stained glass windows were created by the master enameller Raymond Mirande (born in 1932 in Bordeaux). An essential element of the Oyster Port, this wooden statue of Niangon was created by the sculptor Dominique Pios and installed in 1997. With a height of 4m30, it took 600 hours of work to make it. Symbolizing water, the Femme Océane is recognizable by its rounded shapes.

The thirty or so huts, coloured yellow, blue or green, house the equipment needed to grow oysters. This atypical site is composed of 2 darses (equivalent to streets) in the middle of which you will find many empty oyster bags, drying. At the beginning of the summer, the whitewashed tiles contribute to the decoration and authenticity of the port. They are used for shellfish collection in the parks. The only boats present, the "plates" or "barges", are used at the tide by the oyster farmers.
