The name of the village of Serraval literally means "keyhole of the valley", due to its position at the crossroads of Annecy, Thônes and Faverges. The area retains a pastoral tradition, deeply rooted in local history and heritage. Here, you'll have the opportunity to observe the typical goat-herding pastures of the Tournette foothills. This loop will take you up to the Sappey area, offering magnificent panoramic views of Mont Charvin and Mont du Sulens. In the village of Serraval, don't hesitate to visit the Maison de la Pomme et du Biscantin (Apple and Biscantin House) to learn more about the orchards of the Thônes valley. You can also leave with Biscantin, the local cider produced on site.

The hamlet of Nanbellet lies in the district of Saint-Ferréol. Its name is a combination of the words Nant, which means stream, and the family name Bellet, which is a diminutive of beau or beautiful. The name nicely captures the forest charm of this riverside walk, which provides numerous views of the southern part of the Bornes/Aravis mountains and of Mont Blanc. Take the time to visit this charming little hamlet and the chapel of Notre Dame de Grâce. From the car park, head right and go down the wide track to the hamlet of Nanbellet. From the valley, looking this mountain you can see a shark's head... but after 2h30 of walking, from up there, you will see mountain's summit of the Bauges, Charvin Mountain, Dent de Cons and La Sambuy mountain.

This long hike without any major difficulties is an excellent opportunity to buy a reblochon made in the alpine meadows. Located between Mont Charvin and the Tournette, mount Sulens offers a magnificent panorama over both massifs. Nestled between the Tournette and Aravis ranges, Montagne du Sulens is a ridge-like relief offering a number of fairly accessible walks. This itinerary takes you up the mountain to its beautiful summit viewpoint. Departing from the commune of Les Clefs, you'll overlook the Manigod valley and enjoy magnificent views of Mont Charvin and the Val de Chaise, as well as the Col des Marais dominated by the famous fauteuil de la Tournette. On this hike, you'll pass through the heart of the typical Aravis dairy pastures, giving you the chance to immerse yourself in the place where Reblochon cheese is produced. You're on the cheese itinerary: trails to discover a traditional terroir. After a tour of the mountain pastures, farms and herds. An activity above Lake Annecy in the Talloires/Montmin area, at the foot of the mountains and mountain pastures of the Tournette massif, Le Chemin des Tyroliennes gives you access to the Col de l'Aulp at an altitude of 1400 metres. A strenuous but rural walk through fir trees, meadows and streams, two zip lines and we're at the pass, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and herds to the sound of bells. The return to the starting point and car park is a slide from one zip line to the next. Keep your eyes peeled for the breathtaking scenery.

The view from up there is breathtaking. Ideally situated on the shoulder of the Dent de Cons, the Fort de la Batterie is the perfect setting for contemplative hikers and sports enthusiasts alike. Approx. 40 min walk from the parking lot. In the 3rd room, visitors can look at butterflies from Africa and Asia as well as stunningly spectacular giant insects. An area is dedicated to temporary exhibitions: since 2022, an exhibition on the endemic fauna of Madagascar with more than 300 butterflies and insects from that area. The Bout du Lac nature reserve is a rare, unspoilt area on the shores of Lake Annecy, inviting you to discover a protected natural area. The site is accessible to the mobility-impaired and hearing-impaired. The Bout du Lac nature reserve is a wetland area crossed by two rivers, the Eau Morte and the Ire, which feed Lake Annecy. This marshy area to the south of the lake is an exceptional habitat. Wet forests, reedbeds, wet meadows and alkaline peat bogs make up this ecosystem, offering a diversity that is conducive to the establishment of a large number of common, rare or sensitive animal and plant species. The site's major interest lies in the presence of the underwater herbarium, which supports the development of a fauna of invertebrates and fish, and also in the reed bed, which is a refuge for the common toad, a protected area for the European beaver and for the reptiles of Haute-Savoie. Breeding birds such as the reed bunting, spotted locustella and three warblers can be found in the higher parts of the reedbed. The bittern sometimes completes this list. Wintering birds (tufted duck, common pochard and ruddy duck) spend the cold season here in good conditions. Next on the list are the willow and alder thickets, the pedunculate oak woodlands, the arable and hay meadows and the gallery forests along the watercourses. The remarkable diversity of these biotopes supports a remarkable flora. Protected species include gentian pneumonanthe, snake's tongue, water ragwort, sweet-smelling orchid and Swiss woodruff.

Learn about the lime industry of yore in an educational tour of the recently restored lime kilns of Cons-Sainte-Colombe, located between Annecy and Ugine. This industry provided construction materials for the entire area until the late 19th Century. The museographical space is delicately embedded in the restored vestiges. The layout with mountain materials is consciously humble and contemporary. The project won the award for Patrimoine rhônalpin in 2006.

The belvedere is located at 1150 m altitude and offers a bird's eye view of the Lake Annecy. A path up to the bar "La Pricaz" leads to a second belvedere with an unobstructed view of the Bauges, Les Dents de Lanfon and the Tournette peaks.

Mont Charvin (2407 m) is one of the main peaks of the Aravis mountain range and is recognisable by its pyramid shape and steep rock face. This is maybe the reason for its name: Charvin means exposed summit (“charve” is patois for “chauve” meaning bald). In SUMMER : Two via ferratas have been fitted out on the faces of Charvin. According to an ancient legend, a treasure is hidden in one of them.

The church Saint-Jean Baptiste de Viuz located next to the archaeological museum is the result of 6 construction periods starting from the 1st to the 19th century. Well known by researchers, its Romanesque choir and archaeological crypt are what made it a famous reference. The church holds remains of a gallo-roman building in its archaeological crypt as well as 3 churches from the 6th, 9th and 11th centuries. The current building is made of a Romanesque choir (ISMH) from the 12th century adorned with green molasse capitals decorated with water flowers and baroque stalls dating back to 1696. The baptismal fonts also date back to the 17th century. The neoclassical collaterals are the product of the last major restoration works (1827/1842). The whole represents an exceptional piece of architecture, the only one of its kind in Savoie.

Travel back in time from Prehistory to the Middle Ages with objects found during excavations in Faverges and its surroundings. Then you can visit the nearby Romanesque church, architectural heritage of five periods of construction (1st - 19th century). The Viuz Faverges Archeological Museum consists of three rooms filled with artifacts found locally during tests and formal excavations. These objects, ranging from the commonplace to the extraordinary, illustrate the history of human settlement in the area. From the stone Age, axes and tools; from the bronze and iron Ages, jewelry, coins, pottery, tools as well as a huge gallo-roman cauldron. The museum is located next to the Viuz Saint Jean-Baptiste church, whose Romanesque choir dates back to the 12th Century and houses older foundations of several successive buildings dating back to gallo-roman times as well as early christianity.
